Today's Rescue

Starting today, we'll be featuring a Pet (or two) of the Day from one of the shelters featured on the L.A. County Animal Control website. There are many, many shelters to choose from around town, but the ones operated by the city are the ones with kill policies, so we want to feature those dogs first. The sad thing is, they don't even give them names.

The good news is that under the SAVE Program (instituted in 2000), you can adopt a dog for $37, which includes initial vaccinations, spaying and neutering and a free medical exam at a participating veterinary office.

Look at that happy face!

Pit bulls get such a bad rap, and they can be such sweet dogs. I'm not sure what kind of mix this guy is, but he's so handsome.
