Today's Rescue

When I was visiting the North Central shelter on Saturday, one of the animal technicians asked me how many dogs I was going to take home because I was stopping at every cage to say hello. Such nice dogs. Surfing the adoption pages isn't the same as seeing them in person, obviously, and the pictures don't capture what the dogs are really like: how they wag right away when you approach them or have to be cajoled out to smell your hand; how some of them want to play and jump up and down while others are a bit more shy but happy with a good scratch; how clean and spiffy they look after they've had a bath; how their ears perk up when you say their names; how they gaze so hopefully at a friendly face.

It's hard to judge a dog by one photo. Take a trip to your local shelter and experience the love, firsthand.
