Chris' Montana Avenue neighborhood just became imminently more shoppable with the addition of George, my favorite retail pet store from the Bay Area. Its streamlined, modern aesthetic coupled with a candy shop array of fine dog and cat goods makes for a very nice shopping experience indeed. I came away with a rubber donut and a fluffy squirrel with replaceable squeakers. They even gave me some doggie chicken jerky samples as a bonus for stopping by.
Most pet stores are just so dumb. George is all about good design, a sense of irony, and upscale practicality. Why aren't more retailers jumping on this bandwagon? I have no idea.
