Dropped off the first batch of holiday blankets and towels at the West L.A. shelter this afternoon - the people there were so happy to receive them. Doesn't anyone else donate?
As it turns out, the shelter needs a lot more things than are listed on the L.A. Animal Services web site. Strange. Anyway, here's the list I picked up today:
- "SNUGGLE SAFE" MICROWAVE HEATING PADS (a polypropylene disc containing a non-toxic gel, that when heated maintains a constant temperature for up to 8 hours)
- TOWELS
- SHEETS
- PILLOWS
- TABLECLOTHS
- TALL PUPPY PEN
- ALL TYPES OF CARRIERS
- STAINLESS STEEL BOWLS for food and water
- LEASHES AND COLLARS
- NEWSPAPER
- CAT LITTER
- KITTY CONDOS
- HI-PRESSURE WASHER for cleaning cages
plus, these items from the web site:
- TOYS
- TREATS
- GALLON JUGS OF WHITE VINEGAR
- SMALL- AND MEDIUM-SIZED RECTANGULAR LITTER BOXES
- WOOD STOVE PELLETS

Hey can the shelter use old T-Shirts? I see Arthur wearing em' and looking rather suave. . .
That's a great idea. I'll ask. Nothing says "adopt me" like a baseball tee.
