Today's Rescue - Lobo

A girl I met yesterday told me that she had just rescued a 12-year-old golden retriever mix with hip problems from the Pasadena Humane Society. She rescues senior dogs and brings them home - that's her thing. "No old dog should have to live out their last years lying on cold cement," she told me. I couldn't agree more.

This handsome old labrador retriever is called Lobo and is 10 years old. He has been at North Central for over a month and clearly has old-dog hips, although the last few times I've seen him he's been perfectly willing to hobble down to the bars to accept a biscuit from my hand. Actually, with the distinguished grey hairs on his muzzle, he looks like he should be smoking a pipe, wearing one of those Sherlock Holmes black-and-tan checkered capes and a deerstalker cap.

Anyway, Lobo shouldn't be in a shelter. Nikki Audet of The Mutt Scouts took him out to the socialization area and snapped some great pictures of him sitting on a patch of grass, clearly happy to be out of his cage. Here's a LINK to the flyer she made for him. He really needs a nice rescuer who can offer him a soft bed for his bad hips and maybe a yard so he can sit on the grass. Is that so much to ask for an old guy?

Lobo has been redlisted at North Central and needs help ASAP.
