Today's Pre-Holiday Rescue

There is a rumor going around the pet community boards that today is a big euthanization day at L.A. Animal Services (and at the county shelters, too, no doubt). Apparently, so many dogs are picked up on the Fourth of July (mostly freaked out escapees and strays) that they have to clear house to make room.

And that, fellow dog lovers, is reason enough to boycott the holiday festivities.

But don't waste any time adopting a dog!

UPDATE: Apparently, LAAS won't be euthanizing dogs today just to make space, but those already redlisted are first in line. All shelters will be open until 7pm tonight.
