Today's Rescue - East Valley Shelter

L.A. Animal Services' East Valley shelter has 127 dogs right now. One hundred and twenty-seven! To put that concept in perspective: When you're standing in line for your Saturday afternoon Starbucks latte, count the number of people waiting ahead of you - probably about 10, if you're lucky - multiply that by 12, slap all of you in some small cages and stay there against your will for, oh, say, a month or two or three. No beds, no toilets, nothing to keep you entertained. Add to that the possibility that your parents were the ones who stuck you in there, and gloss it all over with the knowledge that if some nice passerby doesn't pick you out of the Starbucks crowd and take you home, you'll be injected with poison and placed in a giant Hefty bag.

Makes me want to adopt some dogs! (Or at least stop going to Starbucks.)
